The story of our descalers....

I bought my wife a wedding present when we returned from our honeymoon, a Lay Z Spa Vegas, but after a year or so I had an E02 error on my pump (often referred to as the egg). I googled "Lay Z Spa Vegas E02 error" and it was suggested the fix was to descale the pump/heater (egg).

I looked on YouTube and was able to find a very useful video on stripping down the Lay Z Spa Vegas pump to diagnose the E02 error, not as daunting as I’d imagined. It turned out the rubber ends on the impeller and the impeller itself were faulty and worn.

I bought a new impeller on eBay, fitted it and instantly noticed that the pump ran a lot quieter, but best of all, no more E02 error on my hot tub pump, result!

Curiosity got the better of me and I started wondering more about descaling hot tub pumps and how to extend the life of our own 🤔 - I thought it a wise idea to make a prototype to test, which I did, and with a few alterations the Easy-Scale was born.  I had some bits left over so made another, and another, then ‘a few’ more. As these sold I soon realised that there was a need out there and people needed help to look after the health of their hot tub and give their pump a new lease of life.

In 2021 whilst cutting and drilling holes in downpipe I thought there must be a way of developing these things to fit more than just a few tubs.  With a lot (and I mean.. a lot!!) of help from a very good friend, I set about designing and developing the EASY-SCALE Mk2, an injection moulded version that is future-proofed so it caters for almost all makes of inflatable tubs.

At this stage I approached Karl Hampson, the founder of the Hampson Scale-Away and invited him to come on this incredible journey with me. He agreed and I was delighted to be working with Karl to develop the EASY-SCALE Mk2 for other pumps, improving it's design and extending it's usefulness even further.    Between us we have a vast knowledge of hot tub pumps and are both very passionate about customer service.

'I' became 'Us' as what started out as a little side hustle became a thriving family business in which my wife and kids got involved, and so began our incredible journey.

Life can be very stressful sometimes and a hot tub is a very relaxing way of forgetting about the stresses of everyday life.  We are incredibly passionate about keeping customers happy,  we know first-hand how important people’s mental health and well-being is to them so when we're able to keep those hot-tubs running that bit longer, there's a real sense of satisfaction.
