How to prevent and fix E3 and other errors on WaveSpa hot tub pumps

EASY-SCALE™  Installation Instructions

for Wave Spa (Integrated heater / pump)

Included with your EASY-SCALE™  kit are 2 screw-on caps, 2 pre-assembled fitting kit pipes and a sachet of Oust (or similar) descaling solution.
(Oust not supplied with non-UK orders due to shipping restrictions)

Always rinse your EASY-SCALE™  thoroughly with clean fresh water before and after use

Descaling should always be done with an old towel underneath your EASY-SCALE™  to capture any spillages.

Unfortunately these fittings that keep the water in the tub need to be removed, thus you will need to empty the tub prior to descaling. 

We recommend OUST descaling solution. Always use a suitable descaling solution or tablets and follow the manufacturer’s safety instructions.

1. Ensure tub is empty of water.

2. Switch off pump. Unscrew filter from inside of the hot tub.

3. Using the wrench that came with your tub, loosen and remove the 2 fittings inside tub.  If you don't have the wrench simply use a pair of waterpump pliers taking care not to damage the threads on the bottom filter fitting.

4. Attach EASY-SCALE to pump; Screw big nut section of the pre-assembled pipes supplied onto both pump fittings.  Screw the 2 blue fittings onto the EASY-SCALE™.  Ensure all fittings are tightened, including the caps, hand tight only.  DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN OR USE PLIERS AS THIS WILL DAMAGE THE THREADS.

5. Fill EASY-SCALE with water.  Switch on pump, test for leaks, tighten fittings, caps if necessary.  Top up to about 2” below the top, add Oust (or similar).

6. Run pump for minimum of 15-30 minutes on heat (30°C) Ideally you want to achieve a water temperature of 35°C - 40°C but if the pump temperature rises above this simply reduce the heat accordingly. The water may turn rather milky – a good thing – the milkier the solution, the more limescale you are removing.

7. Switch off pump. Hold an empty jug under bottom fitting.  Remove blue bottom cap allowing solution to empty into jug.

8. Reattach blue cap on bottom fitting. Repeat steps 6 and 7 with clean fresh water for a minimum of 5-10 minutes.

9. Remove your EASY-SCALE™.  Place assembled pipes inside EASY-SCALE™ ready for next time. Refit fittings to pump.  Replace filter, refill tub with water.

10. Switch on pump and enjoy once again.
