How to prevent and fix an E02 and other errors on a Lay Z Spa Airjet (2021+ Model)
Included with your EASY-SCALE™ kit are 2 screw-on caps, a big and a small push-in fitting, a blanking plug and a sachet of Oust (or similar) descaling solution.
(Oust not supplied with non-UK orders due to shipping restrictions).
Always rinse your EASY-SCALE™ thoroughly with clean fresh water before and after use.
Descaling should always be done on a well-drained surface such as a lawn to ensure no staining occurs.
Always use a suitable descaling solution or tablets and follow the manufacturer’s safety instructions.
Ensure tub is capped off on the inside using the caps provided with your tub.
Switch off pump and remove pump from the tub.
Screw the big fitting onto your EASY-SCALE™’s middle fitting, hand tight only. Smear a little washing up liquid / cooking oil on all fittings, push the small fitting into bottom left fitting of the pump using a wiggling / twisting action. Do the same with the big blanking plug (bottom right) This may need a little force to ensure a snug fit.
Attach the EASY-SCALE™ to the pump (top left fitting) offer up the bottom left fitting and tighten (hand tight only).
Start to fill the descaler. Tilt the pump backwards to expel any air. Top up descaler (you will need approx. 2 litres of water in total so far).
Switch on pump. Top up descaler again to just above the fittings, about 2” from the top. Test for leaks, tighten fittings, caps if necessary, and add descaler solution (Oust or similar).
Run pump for a minimum of 30 minutes on heat, (30°C), longer if you want. There is no such thing as ‘over-descaling’ a hot tub pump.*** Do not allow the pump (water) temperature to exceed 40°C *** If you do, you’ll encounter an E08 (high temp) error. If this occurs, reset the RCD, switch back on, carry out a thermal reset on the pump (push the button halfway up the pump) and reduce the temperature accordingly. The water may turn rather milky – a good thing – the milkier the solution, the more limescale you are removing.
Place an empty jug under the bottom drain. Undo the cap, allowing the solution to empty into the jug. Repeat with the blanking plug (bottom right) and let the remaining solution run into the same jug, refit the blanking plug and cap. Fill EASY-SCALE™ with clean fresh water and rinse thoroughly (repeat steps 5 to 7) for a minimum of 5 minutes.
Remove EASY-SCALE™. Pop the blanking plug and small fitting in your EASY-SCALE™ ready for next time.
Refit the pump to the tub; remove caps from the inside of the tub. Switch on pump and enjoy once again.
Use 3-4 times a year to prolong the life of the pump and internal components.
More frequent / repeat treatments / leaving overnight may be needed in exceptionally hard water areas;
There is no such thing as over-descaling a Lay Z Spa pump!
